It has been studied in depression\, epilepsy\, obesity\, and migraine headaches. Historically\, VNS was delivered through surgically implanted devices. More recently\, external transcutaneous stimulation has been developed. \nThis immersive training with Arielle Schwartz introduces clinicians to natural Vagus Nerve and Polyvagal Practices for Trauma that require no specialized equipment. These practices include: \n\nBreath-based regulation\nSound and vocalization\nEye movements\nSelf-applied touch where the vagus nerve is accessible\nGentle somatic movement\n\nThese approaches are practical\, accessible\, and adaptable for psychotherapy settings. \nUnderstanding Autonomic Regulation and Vagal Tone\nHealthy vagal tone reflects balance between the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems. This balance supports stress resilience\, emotional regulation\, and autonomic flexibility. \nLow vagal tone is associated with heightened anxiety\, fear\, and irritability. Many clients benefit from parasympathetic regulation strategies. Others require interventions that support safe mobilization when fatigue or shutdown occurs. \nThis training provides neural exercises grounded in Vagus Nerve and Polyvagal Practices for Trauma. Clinicians learn how to tailor regulation strategies to diverse clinical presentations. \nClinical Application in Psychotherapy Practice\nGrounded in polyvagal theory\, affective neuroscience\, and trauma-informed care\, this course explores how the brain and body respond to stress. Participants deepen their understanding of neuroception and autonomic patterns. \nLed by Dr. Arielle Schwartz\, the training strengthens clinicians’ ability to: \n\nAssess autonomic states in session\nRecognize signals of safety and threat\nApply vagal-toning strategies moment-to-moment\nSupport co-regulation in the therapeutic relationship\n\nDidactic teaching is integrated with experiential practice. Participants learn and rehearse evidence-based Vagus Nerve and Polyvagal Practices for Trauma that can be woven into existing modalities. \nIntegrating Vagus Nerve and Polyvagal Practices for Trauma Across Modalities\nThis workshop is designed for psychotherapists who want to expand their somatic and neurobiological knowledge. It supports competence in teaching clients self-regulation skills. \nParticipants explore: \n\nPositive neuroplasticity and resilience\nHeart rate variability (HRV) and vagal tone\nThe vagal brake and vagal efficiency\nGrounding and orienting techniques\nTherapeutic yoga principles\nCompassion-based practices\nReflex integration strategies\n\nBy the end of the week\, clinicians will have a structured toolkit of Vagus Nerve and Polyvagal Practices for Trauma. These tools enhance therapeutic presence and clinical precision. They strengthen the ability to foster regulation\, resilience\, and agency within the therapeutic relationship. \nInvitation from Arielle Schwartz Learning Objectives\nDescribe the core principles of polyvagal theory and their application within psychotherapy practice. \n\nExplain the tiered autonomic responses to threat\, including hybrid nervous system states. \n\nAssess neuroception of safety and threat within clinical contexts. \n\nRecognize the role of co-regulation and the social engagement system in therapeutic relationships. \n\nDescribe the role of positive neuroplasticity and resilience in nervous system regulation. \n\nExplain the relationship between stress\, trauma\, and physical and mental health. \n\nApply moment-to-moment nervous system regulation practices within clinical contexts. \n\nExplain the physiological mechanisms by which conscious breathing supports nervous system regulation. \n\nDemonstrate non-device-based vagus nerve stimulation practices\, SUMMARY:Narcissistic and Antagonistic Relationship Therapy: A Structured Clinical Framework
DESCRIPTION:Narcissistic and Antagonistic Relationship Therapy: A Structured Clinical FrameworkJanuary 30 – February 13\, 2027\nMorning Workshop Sessions: February 1-5 | 9:00 am – 12:30 pm daily7-Night All-Inclusive Resort Stay + Workshop RegistrationPackages starting at USD $3\,555 per room — not per person About  — Ramani Durvasula \nPresented by Ramani Durvasula Clinical Psychologist and Leading Expert on Narcissism and Relationships \nRegister now!Workshop DetailsPricing & AccommodationsTravel & Resort InfoWorkshop DetailsAbout this workshopNarcissistic and Antagonistic Relationship Therapy: Understanding & Working With Complex Relational Systems\nMental health clinicians increasingly encounter clients impacted by relationships with individuals who display narcissistic or antagonistic personality traits. While the term “narcissistic abuse” is widely used\, many clinicians lack a structured framework for understanding the relational dynamics and clinical fallout. \nClients affected by these relationships often present with: \n\nEmotional confusion and distress\nTrauma-related symptoms\nDiminished sense of self\nAttachment disruptions\nSafety and autonomy challenges\n\nNarcissistic and Antagonistic Relationship Therapy requires more than symptom management. It demands a coherent lens for understanding personality style\, relational behavior\, and adaptive survival strategies. \nThis training led by Ramani Durvasula introduces the Antagonism Informed Model (AIM)\, a structured clinical framework designed to support therapists navigating these complex presentations. \nCore Traits and Relational Dynamics\nParticipants explore narcissism and antagonism as personality styles that exist along a spectrum. These traits may be expressed through a range of relational behaviors rather than as isolated diagnostic labels. \nThe training examines common relational patterns such as: \n\nIntermittent reinforcement\nCognitive dissonance\nTrauma bonding\nBetrayal blindness\nCoercive control\n\nAttention is given to the adaptive behaviors clients develop to remain safe\, attached\, or emotionally regulated within these systems. Structural awareness and intersectional considerations are integrated to illuminate how power\, access to resources\, and systemic forces shape client experience. \nAssessment\, Stabilization\, and Ethical Practice\nThe Antagonism Informed Model integrates several core clinical domains\, including assessment\, safety\, psychoeducation\, grief\, and the development of agency. \nClinicians will learn how to: \n\nConduct ongoing risk assessment\nSupport emotional stabilization\nCenter the client’s lived experience\nFoster individuation and autonomy\nNavigate documentation and confidentiality concerns\n\nLegal and ethical considerations are addressed directly. Clinician wellbeing is also emphasized\, given the complexity of this work. \nAIM is not presented as a standalone modality. It is a flexible guiding framework that can be integrated across theoretical orientations. \nIntegrating Narcissistic and Antagonistic Relationship Therapy into Clinical Practice\nEffective Narcissistic and Antagonistic Relationship Therapy requires clarity\, precision\, and structural awareness. By adopting an antagonism-informed lens\, clinicians strengthen case conceptualization and enhance therapeutic safety. \nParticipants leave with practical strategies to: \n\nImprove client engagement\nReduce confusion and ambivalence\nSupport agency and decision-making\nNavigate complex relational systems with confidence\n\nThis training equips clinicians with a structured\, adaptable approach to Narcissistic and Antagonistic Relationship Therapy that enhances clinical confidence and depth. \nInvitation from Ramani Durvasula Learning Objectives\nDescribe narcissism and antagonism as personality styles\, including characteristic traits\, motivations\, and presentations\, and differentiate categorical and dimensional formulations of narcissistic personality pathology (including bonding\, cognitive dissonance\, and betrayal blindness as they apply to narcissistic and antagonistic relational dynamics. \n\nRecognize common behavioral responses and adaptive strategies used by individuals in these relationships\, including patterns related to attachment and safety. \n\nIdentify the most frequently observed symptom presentations and psychological fallout experienced by clients impacted by narcissistic and antagonistic relationships. \n\nApply the key principles of the Antagonism Informed Model (AIM) to clinical case conceptualization and treatment planning. Led by Dr. Robyn D. Walser\, the training integrates contemporary ACT theory with decades of clinical\, research\, and training experience. \nThe primary focus is helping clinicians move beyond conceptual understanding toward greater fluency in applying processes of change in real clinical contexts. Participants learn to recognize subtle patterns of avoidance\, control\, and fusion as they unfold in session. \nEmphasis is placed on expanding the clinician’s capacity to remain oriented to the function of their interventions\, especially when urgency\, discomfort\, or complexity arise. \nApplying ACT Processes in Real Time\nThroughout the week\, clinicians engage in didactic teaching\, clinical demonstrations\, experiential exercises\, and case-based discussion. Special attention is given to therapist process and moment-to-moment decision making. \nParticipants learn how to: \n\nIdentify experiential avoidance and control strategies\nApply functional analysis to client behavior\nRecognize short-term relief patterns that reinforce struggle\nStrengthen psychological flexibility\n\nThe training emphasizes responding in ways that foster flexibility rather than inadvertently reinforcing control or avoidance. \nTherapist Process and “Tiny Moments of Choice”\nA distinctive feature of this training is its focus on therapist internal experience. Clinicians explore how their own histories\, urges\, and discomfort can shape therapeutic choices. \nACT processes such as acceptance\, defusion\, values\, and self-as-context are applied to the therapist’s experience in session. Participants practice noticing “tiny moments of choice\,” including when to pause rather than push\, name rather than bypass\, or stay rather than fix. \nThese subtle moments accumulate to support meaningful change and strengthen therapeutic presence. \nIntegrating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Training Across Clinical Presentations\nThis Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Training emphasizes functional analysis and values-guided intervention selection across a range of clinical presentations. Trauma-related difficulties\, chronic suffering\, and complex relational dynamics are addressed. \nClinicians leave with: \n\nGreater fluency in applying the six core ACT processes\nIncreased precision in intervention selection\nExpanded ACT-consistent responses\nRenewed clarity and vitality in their practice\n\nInvitation from Robyn Walser Learning Objectives\nDescribe the theoretical foundations of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as a process-based\, functionally contextual approach to psychotherapy. \n\nIdentify the six core ACT processes (present-moment awareness\, acceptance\, cognitive defusion\, self-as-context\, values\, and committed action) and their roles in promoting psychological flexibility. \n\nApply functional analysis to understand patterns of experiential avoidance\, control strategies\, and short-term relief that interfere with values-based living. \n\nDemonstrate the use of present-moment awareness\, acceptance\, and cognitive defusion to help clients respond more flexibly to difficult internal experiences. \n\nRecognize how therapists’ own internal experiences (e.g.\, urgency\, discomfort\, helpfulness\, uncertainty) influence in-session decision making and intervention selection. \n\nApply ACT processes to therapists’ internal experiences in session in order to support presence\, flexibility\, and values-guided clinical responding. \n\nExplain the functions of self-as-context\, values\, and committed action in supporting perspective-taking\, direction\, and sustained behavior change. \n\nImplement values clarification and committed action strategies that are tailored to the function of client behavior rather than diagnosis alone. \n\nIntegrate the six core ACT processes into coherent\, flexible clinical responses across a range of clinical presentations. \n\nEvaluate moment-to-moment clinical choices (e.g.\, pausing versus pushing\, naming versus bypassing\, staying versus fixing) and articulate how these choices support psychological flexibility. \n\nDescribe the role of the therapeutic relationship in ACT\, including how therapist presence\, openness\, and values-guided responding shape safety\, trust\, and engagement. \n\nIdentify and respond to relational moments such as alliance strain\, rupture\, and repair using ACT-consistent principles rather than technique-driven or control-oriented strategies \nDaily Workshop Agenda\n\n\n\n\nTime Frame\nContent (Topics)\n\n\n\n\nDAY 1\n\n\n\n9:00 am – 10:15 am\n\n\nOrientation\nACT as a process-based\, functionally contextual approach\nOverview of the six core processes\n\nObjectives: 1\, 2\n\n\n10:15 am – 10:30 am\nMorning break*\n\n\n10:30 am – 12:30 pm\n\n\nFunctional analysis\nexperiential avoidance\, control\, and short-term relief\nClinical examples\n\nObjectives: 3 \n\n\nDAY 2\n\n\n\n9:00 am – 10:15 am\n\n\nAcceptance/Willingness\, cognitive defusion\, and present-moment awareness\nFunction over form\n\nObjectives:  4\n\n\n10:15 am – 10:30 am\nMorning break*\n\n\n10:30 am – 12:30 pm\n\n\nExperiential and clinical practice applying defusion\, acceptance\, and present-moment awareness\n\nObjectives: 4\, 5\, 6\n\n\nDAY 3\n\n\n\n9:00 am – 10:15 am\n\n\nSelf-as-context and perspective taking\n\nObjectives: 7\n\n\n10:15 am – 10:30 am\nMorning break*\n\n\n10:30 am – 12:30 pm\n\n\nValues as ongoing patterns of action; Yet dissociation is a natural part of the human experience. These struggles are often intensified by myths and misinformation within our profession. \nThis retreat-style Working with Dissociation in Therapy workshop with Jamie Marich is designed to meet you where you are. It welcomes clinicians who are new to dissociation as well as those with years of experience. \nYour guide is Jamie Marich\, PhD\, a clinical expert in trauma\, dissociation\, addiction\, and expressive arts. She is also known as a leader in the lived experience movement. Dr. Jamie has openly shared her experience of living with dissociative identities and embracing functional multiplicity. \nWhile offering guidance on caution and care\, she helps clinicians experience less fear around dissociation. Her teaching integrates both lived and learned expertise. \nUnderstanding Trauma\, Parts\, and Dissociative Experiences\nParticipants are taken on a first-hand exploration of the variations of dissociative experience. The training moves beyond dissociative disorders alone. It examines how dissociation appears in complex PTSD\, depression\, anxiety\, and other presentations. \nThe workshop addresses: \n\nCommon myths and misconceptions\nPhenomenology and lived experience\nDissociative identities and plurality through neurodiversity-informed and lived-experience frameworks\nParts-based conceptualizations\nThe role of consultation in complex cases\n\nStructured dialogue invites clinicians to bring questions they may have been hesitant to ask. \nPractical Clinical Tools and Treatment Planning\nParticipants learn compassionate assessment strategies and non-shaming approaches to identifying dissociation in session. The Dissociation Profile Exercise is introduced as a structured clinical tool. \nThe training equips clinicians with no fewer than ten practical skills for grounding\, stabilization\, and preparation for further care. Treatment planning emphasizes flexibility rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. \nAttention is given to: \n\nCritical decision points in treatment\nIndividualized and system-focused plans\nAdvocacy for plural systems\nEthical responsibility and client safety\n\nIntegrating Working with Dissociation in Therapy Across Modalities\nThe principles of Working with Dissociation in Therapy apply across theoretical orientations. Many of the strategies presented can be integrated into existing models. \nBy the end of this immersive retreat\, clinicians will feel more confident navigating dissociative presentations. They will leave with practical tools\, clearer clinical judgment\, and a more compassionate lens for understanding trauma-based dissociation. \nInvitation from Jamie Marich Learning Objectives\nDefine both trauma and dissociation (according to several different sources before coming up with solid working definitions for your own clinical practices) \n\nDiscuss the interplay between trauma and dissociation\, noting the various diagnoses and conditions that may surface with this interplay \n\nExplain the principles of phenomenology and how they inform the lived experience movement in mental health\, specifically in work with dissociative identities \n\nList the most common myths\, misconceptions\, and biases that exist in the mental health field and in society at large about people who dissociate \n\nAssess for the presence of dissociation in clinical settings in a compassionate\, non-shaming manner  \n\nImplement no fewer than 10 skills into clinical settings that will assist people who dissociate with grounding/anchoring\, basic stabilization\, and preparation for further care \n\nComplete a Dissociation Profile Exercise and discuss  how to use and implement this tool in your clinical setting \n\nDiscuss and critique the various models that exist for mapping and working with parts \n\nDescribe how to guide critical decision points in treatment with people who dissociate\, remembering that there is no “one size fits all” approach in navigating treatment \n\nUtilize the tool of consultation effectively in building your treatment plans and working through impasses \n\nImplement individualized and system-focused treatment plans for people who dissociate\, which may or may not involve direct trauma processing \n\nReview why it’s important to advocate effectively for people who experience trauma-based dissociation and/or live as a plural system \nDaily Workshop Agenda\n\n\n\n\nTime Frame\nContent (Topics)\n\n\n\n\nDAY 1\n\n\n\n9:00 am – 10:15 am\n\n\nIntroduction to Dissociation\nSelf-Assessment\nIdentifying Biases\n\nObjectives: 1\, 4\n\n\n10:15 am – 10:30 am\nMorning break*\n\n\n10:30 am – 12:30 pm\n\n\nIntroduction to Dissociation: Terminology\, Diagnoses & Clinical Approach\nIntroduction to the Dissociative Profile Exercise\nPhenomenology and lived experience frameworks in understanding dissociative identities\n\nObjectives: 1\, 2\, 3\, 7\n\n\nDAY 2\n\n\n\n9:00 am – 10:15 am\n\n\nFurther Exploration and Review of the Dissociative Profile Exercise\nReview and Clinical Application\n\nObjectives: 7\n\n\n10:15 am – 10:30 am\nMorning break*\n\n\n10:30 am – 12:30 pm\n\n\nTeaching and practicing 10+ grounding/anchoring/stabilization skills and enriching daily life for Clients Who Dissociate\n\nObjectives: 6\n\n\nDAY 3\n\n\n\n9:00 am – 10:15 am\n\n\nAssessment Strategies for Clinical Dissociation\nPetals of a Rose Film Review and Treatment Planning Exercise\n\nObjectives: 5\, 8\n\n\n10:15 am – 10:30 am\nMorning break*\n\n\n10:30 am – 12:30 pm\n\n\nIntroduction to Parts Mapping\nParts Mapping Exercise\nClinical Review and Discussion\n\nObjectives: 8\n\n\nDAY 4\n\n\n\n9:00 am – 10:15 am\n\n\nAdvanced Treatment Planning & Review of Parts Mapping Exercise\nDecision Points in Care: When to Move Into Formal Trauma Processing\nUsing Various Parts Models in Clinical Settings\n\nObjectives: 8\, 9\, 11\n\n\n10:15 am – 10:30 am\nMorning break*\n\n\n10:30 am – 12:30 pm\n\n\nWhy Consultation Can Be More Valuable Than Training in Advancing Your Skills\nConsultation Session\n\nObjectives: 10\, 11\n\n\nDAY 5\n\n\n\n9:00 am – 10:15 am\n\n\nOrganized and extreme abuse\, coercive groups\, and spiritual abuse: clinical considerations\, differential issues\, and safety planning\n\nObjectives: 2\, 11\n\n\n10:15 am – 10:30 am\nMorning break\n\n\n10:30 am – 12:30 pm\n\n\nFinal Review and Integration\nNeeds Assessment for Clinical Implementation\nAssuring Success in Your Clinical Settings\n\nObjectives: 12\n\n\n\n\n*Breaks not applicable for CEs. \nThis workshop is approved for 16.25 CE hours by Praxis Continuing Education and Training. \nAdditional Workshop DetailsTarget Audience:\nMarriage and Family Therapists\, Clinical and Counseling Psychologists\, Psychiatric Social Workers\, Pastoral Counselors\, Psychotherapists\, Psychiatrists\, Physicians\, Nurse Practitioners\, Occupational Therapists\, Counselors\, Graduate Students in Accredited Programs in these fields \nWhat level of knowledge should the attendee have in this topic?\nIntermediate/Advanced \nRegister now!Pricing & AccommodationsChoose Your Retreat PackageYour Retreat Experience Includes:\n\n7 nights all-inclusive accommodations (Saturday\, February 6 – Saturday\, February 13\, 2027) at Dreams Jade Resort & Spa.*\nOne workshop registration with Jamie Marich\nDaily training (9:00 am – 12:30 pm)\nAccess to resort amenities\nAll meals\, drinks\, and snacks included\n\n*Each package includes a 7-night all-inclusive resort stay and one workshop registration. Yet the psychological processes underlying adaptation to bereavement have been refined significantly in recent years. Research now distinguishes adaptive grieving from prolonged or functionally impairing grief. \nThis immersive five-day advanced grief therapy training with Robert Neimeyer and Carolyn Ng introduces a comprehensive\, meaning-focused clinical model. The framework integrates attachment theory\, trauma-informed care\, and narrative reconstruction within a structured therapeutic approach. \nParticipants explore adaptive grieving as a dynamic process of reaffirming or reconstructing a world of meaning challenged by loss. Particular attention is given to sudden\, violent\, or relationally complex deaths. \nAssessment and Differentiation in Bereavement\nClinicians review distinctions between normative grief and prolonged grief disorder. Recently established diagnostic criteria are examined alongside validated screening tools such as the Grief Impairment Scale and the Grief Attack Questionnaire. \nParticipants learn to recognize: \n\nMarkers of intense grief attacks\nTrauma-related complications\nUnfinished relational business\nDisruptions in attachment and identity\n\nSpecial attention is given to preventing retraumatization and pacing interventions appropriately within advanced grief therapy work. \nEvidence-Informed Interventions for Meaning-Making\nThroughout the training\, empirical findings are translated into practical strategies. Clinical video demonstrations and structured experiential exercises support integration into practice. \nParticipants practice: \n\nSecure Base Mapping\nLife Imprint work\nRestorative Retelling\nEmbodied Dialogue\nTherapeutic correspondence with the deceased\nStructured journaling practices\n\nThe workshop emphasizes maintaining psychological safety while supporting deep narrative reconstruction. These interventions are presented within a coherent advanced grief therapy framework. \nIntegrating Advanced Grief Therapy and Meaning Reconstruction Across Clinical Settings\nThis advanced grief therapy model provides a coherent yet flexible framework for diverse practice environments. It supports clinicians working in hospitals\, private practice\, community settings\, and interdisciplinary teams. \nParticipants leave with structured assessment tools and clearly articulated intervention strategies. They gain confidence in facilitating resilience\, adaptive functioning\, and sustained psychological growth after loss. \nBy the end of the week\, clinicians will be prepared to apply advanced grief therapy principles with depth\, clarity\, and compassion. \nInvitation from Robert Neimeyer Learning Objectives\nIdentify three key dimensions of adaptive grieving viewed through a narrative lens \n\nIdentify features of prolonged and functionally impairing grief in the context of a clinical interview \n\nExplain use of the brief Grief Impairment Scale in initiating therapy and measuring therapeutic progress \n\nDefine the key components of grief attacks and list 4 approaches to mitigating them and defusing triggers for their occurrence \n\nDescribe the essential domains of a Meaning Reconstruction model of grief and outline how it can serve as a guidance-system for grief therapy \n\nExplain the concept of continuing bonds and its role in adaptation to bereavement  \n\nApply Secure Base Mapping to trace sustaining bonds over time and identify internal and external resources to promote adaptation to life transitions  \n\nExplain why it’s important to practice a conversational technique to review the back story of relationship with the deceased and to elicit lingering relational issues that require therapeutic attention \n\nDescribe research on sudden and traumatic bereavement and its relation to both unfinished business with the deceased and intense or prolonged grief symptomatology \n\nExplain the use of the Unfinished Business in Bereavement Scale for assessing residual conflicts and disappointments in the relationship with the deceased \n\nDescribe guidelines for correspondence with the deceased that ensure safety for clients as they reopen and resolve complicated dialogues with loved ones interrupted by their death \n\nUse the Life Imprint technique to recognize the living legacy of the deceased for the survivor at both concrete and abstract levels \n\nIdentify markers for the use of narrative retelling of an event story of loss\, and guidelines for avoiding re-traumatization  \n\nExplain the concept of narrative braiding and the three strands of the client’s story that this involves \n\nDescribe how to implement Restorative Retelling procedures for mastering the event story of the loss \n\nDescribe the four key steps in Embodied Dialogue and the key features of the process of the work that foster depth and safety \n\nExplain the use of Conversing with the Canvas as an optional extension of the method and its advantages in individual and group applications \n\nDistinguish between emotion-focused\, sense-making and benefit-finding approaches to journaling and highlight the role of each \n\nDiscuss how to implement procedures for establishing safe entry into and exit from immersive and reflective journaling\, and generalize to its use in therapy \nDaily Workshop Agenda\n\n\n\n\nTime Frame\nContent It requires a clear roadmap. In this five-day immersive Advanced Trauma Treatment training\, Dr. Jennifer Sweeton presents an integrative\, neuroscience-informed framework designed to help clinicians treat trauma and complex trauma with greater precision and confidence. \nGrounded in current research on neuroplasticity\, memory reconsolidation\, and emotional regulation\, the workshop introduces a structured Trauma Treatment Roadmap. This roadmap aligns interventions with the five primary brain regions most impacted by trauma: the amygdala\, hippocampus\, insula\, cingulate cortex\, and prefrontal cortex. \nParticipants deepen their understanding of how trauma alters threat detection\, stress physiology\, interoception\, cognitive flexibility\, and autobiographical memory. \nStrengthening Regulation and the Therapeutic Alliance\nThe training begins with the therapeutic alliance as a neurobiological intervention. Co-regulation\, neural synchrony\, and attachment repair are emphasized as foundational elements of trauma care. \nParticipants explore body-based and interoceptive techniques that help clients reconnect with internal experience. Practical strategies for stress regulation are introduced\, including vagal activation\, breathing techniques\, and somatic stabilization. \nClinicians learn how to sequence interventions safely and effectively before moving into trauma processing. \nIntegrative Neural Desensitization and Trauma Processing\nAs the week progresses\, top-down cognitive strategies are integrated with bottom-up somatic approaches. Techniques are informed by EMDR\, prolonged exposure\, cognitive processing therapy\, and neural desensitization models. \nParticipants learn to: \n\nIdentify trauma network targets\nMonitor distress within the window of tolerance\nApply desensitization acceleration techniques\nMinimize destabilization during processing\n\nAttention is given to titration\, pacing\, and precision. \nIntegrating Advanced Trauma Treatment Across Modalities\nThis Advanced Trauma Treatment framework offers clinicians a coherent structure for integrating diverse trauma interventions. It strengthens case conceptualization while increasing flexibility in application. \nParticipants leave with practical tools that can be immediately implemented in clinical practice. By the end of the week\, clinicians will feel more confident sequencing interventions\, regulating the nervous system\, and facilitating adaptive neural change using Advanced Trauma Treatment principles. \nInvitation from Jennifer Sweeton Learning Objectives\nIdentify at least one neural system/region involved in social safety and engagement relevant to trauma treatment. \n\nIdentify and demonstrate two techniques for building the therapeutic alliance. \n\nDescribe the role of coordinated movements in alliance-building. \n\nDescribe the function of the insula. \n\nIdentify at least three techniques for reconnecting with the body. \n\nDifferentiate between at least two types of grounding exercises. \n\nDescribe the neuroscience of stress regulation. \n\nDemonstrate at least one technique for regulating the stress response. \n\nExplain one function of the prefrontal cortex and cingulate cortex in attention\, regulation\, and monitoring. \n\nDemonstrate one cognitive defusion technique. \n\nDescribe why bilateral movement can facilitate desensitization to distressing thoughts or memories. \n\nIdentify two ways to alter visual or auditory memory components that decrease their intensity during imaginal exposure. \n\nName at least two brain regions involved in processing trauma. \n\nIdentify at least three components of neural networks. \n\nList at least three therapeutic approaches that can be integrated with nervous system regulation (amygdala). \nDaily Workshop Agenda\n\n\n\n\nTime Frame\nContent (Topics)\n\n\n\n\nDAY 1\n\n\n\n9:00 am – 10:15 am\n\n\nNeural basis of safety\, social engagement\, and attunement\nBrain regions involved in trauma and connection\nAlliance as a neurobiological intervention\n\nObjectives: 1\, 2\, 3\n\n\n10:15 am – 10:30 am\nMorning break*\n\n\n10:30 am – 12:30 pm\n\n\nCoordinated movement and co-regulation\nStrengthening connection through neural synchrony\nClinical application of alliance-building techniques\n\nObjectives: 2\, 3\n\n\nDAY 2\n\n\n\n9:00 am – 10:15 am\n\n\nInteroception and trauma\nThe role of the insula in bodily awareness and emotional experience\nWhy trauma disrupts connection to bodily signals\n\nObjectives: 4\, 5\n\n\n10:15 am – 10:30 am\nMorning break*\n\n\n10:30 am – 12:30 pm\n\n\nTechniques for safely reconnecting with the body\nGrounding strategies to support bodily awareness\nClinical pacing to avoid overwhelm\n\nObjectives: 5\, 6 \n\n\nDAY 3\n\n\n\n9:00 am – 10:15 am\n\n\nStress physiology and trauma\nAmygdala reactivity and threat perception\nNeural mechanisms of nervous system dysregulation\n\nObjectives: 7\n\n\n10:15 am – 10:30 am\nMorning break*\n\n\n10:30 am – 12:30 pm\n\n\nTechniques for regulating the stress response\nIncreasing nervous system stability and capacity\nPreparing the brain for later trauma processing\n\nObjectives: 7\, 8\n\n\nDAY 4\n\n\n\n9:00 am – 10:15 am\n\n\nPrefrontal cortex function and trauma-related impairment\nAttention\, cognitive flexibility\, and regulation\nThe role of the cingulate in monitoring and control\n\nObjectives: 9\n\n\n10:15 am – 10:30 am\nMorning break*\n\n\n10:30 am – 12:30 pm\n\n\nCognitive defusion and top-down modulation\nOther cognitive strategies \nSupporting reflective capacity without invalidation\n\nObjectives: 9\, 10\n\n\nDAY 5\n\n\n\n9:00 am – 10:15 am\n\n\nTrauma memory processing and contextualization\nBilateral movement and desensitization\nReducing distress while minimizing retraumatization\n\nObjectives: 11\, 12\n\n\n10:15 am – 10:30 am\nMorning break\n\n\n10:30 am – 12:30 pm\n\n\nNeural networks involved in trauma processing\nIntegrating desensitization and regulation\n\nObjectives: 13\, 14\, 15\n\n\n\n\n*Breaks not applicable for CEs. \nThis workshop is approved for 16.25 CE hours by Praxis Continuing Education and Training. \nAdditional Workshop DetailsTarget Audience:\nMarriage and Family Therapists\, Clinical and Counseling Psychologists\, Psychiatric Social Workers\, Pastoral Counselors\, Psychotherapists\, Psychiatrists\, Physicians\, Nurse Practitioners\, Occupational Therapists\, Counselors\, Graduate Students in Accredited Programs in these fields \nWhat level of knowledge should the attendee have in this topic?\nIntermediate/Advanced \nRegister now!Pricing & AccommodationsChoose Your Retreat PackageYour Retreat Experience Includes:\n\n7 nights all-inclusive accommodations (Saturday\, February 6\, 2027 – Saturday\, February 13\, 2027) at Dreams Jade Resort & Spa.*\nOne workshop registration with Jennifer Sweeton\nDaily training (9:00 am – 12:30 pm)\nAccess to resort amenities\nAll meals\, drinks\, and snacks included\n\n*Each package includes a 7-night all-inclusive resort stay and one workshop registration.
